General Cabinet Structure...

So I thought I would start with some information about the general structure of a cabinet…

The box is the component of the cabinet acts as the overall structure and excludes one side.  This could be the basis for a kitchen cabinet, wall unit, etc.
As a general rule, the more real wood used in the construction of a cabinet box the better. Quality plywood is a material that holds up the best over time.

The side excluded in the box becomes the face of the cabinet.  This is where a door or panel would normally sit in a finish and design of your choosing.  The substrate material of the face is determined by the finish you want, but generally you will find that; a stain finish would have a solid wood substrate and a painted finish would have an MDF substrate
